AuraPod
A pocket recorder that keeps your conversations on hardware you own
Most AI recorders send your conversations to someone else's cloud. AuraPod records to a microSD card in your pocket and makes transcripts on your own computer. There's no account, no subscription, and no company server in the middle. It's being built as the companion device for MemoryHive, and it works without it.
Target price $179, one time, no subscription. Planned $149 founding price for the waitlist. Not on sale yet.
Your conversations stay on hardware you own
Most AI recorders are a microphone attached to someone else's cloud. AuraPod is built the other way around. Here is exactly what that means, including the parts that are not finished.
-
Audio goes to your card first
Every recording is written to the microSD card as ordinary WAV files. Pull the card and you have everything, with no app and no login.
-
Transcribed on your computer
Whisper runs on a computer you control and audio travels over your own network. It doesn't go to HelloDigital or to an AI vendor.
-
No account, no subscription
There is nothing to sign up for and no monthly fee to keep your own recordings. The device works without talking to us at all.
-
Deleting is up to you
Erase the card or factory reset from the device. There is no copy on a company server to ask anyone to remove.
-
What it does connect to
With Wi-Fi on, it asks public services for the time and weather, which shows them your IP address and the location you set. No audio or transcripts are sent. Stay off Wi-Fi and it can still record and play.
-
What isn't finished
The card isn't encrypted yet, so if you lose it, treat it like a lost notebook. The transcription server has no sign-in yet, so use it only on a network you trust. Both are planned fixes.
Every screen on the device

What works today, and what doesn't yet
AuraPod is in development and isn't on sale. Every screen above is a direct capture from a working device on November 5, 2026, placed in a simple frame. They are not mockups.
-
Working now
Recording to microSD, bookmarks, transcription on your own computer, transcripts on the device, WAV playback, tracker detection, Wi-Fi setup from a phone, watch faces, a card browser, clock, weather, steps, stopwatch and user-approved updates.
-
Being built
MP3 playback, AI summaries that run locally, the MemoryHive connection, hold-to-ask assistant, card encryption, and a simple installer for the transcription software.
-
Setup by QR code (planned)
Each unit will show its own QR code the first time it starts. Scan it with your phone and a page walks you through setup, step by step.
-
Before anything ships
Known reliability bugs have to be fixed, battery life has to be measured, and regulatory testing has to pass. We won't quote a battery figure or take orders until all three are done.
-
FCC notice
This device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.
What it costs
One price for the device, and no meter running after that.
-
AuraPod: $179 target price
A one-time price, planned to include the device, case, battery and a preloaded microSD card. The first units are planned at a $149 founding price for people on the waitlist. Final prices will be confirmed before orders open.
-
Transcription: free
Whisper is open source and runs on your computer. You supply the Mac or PC, and a phone for setup.
-
MemoryHive: optional
AuraPod works on its own. MemoryHive has a free web trial, and its desktop app is $19, one time.
Built to work with MemoryHive
MemoryHive makes a Bee wearable's history searchable. AuraPod is being built as its companion: a device you own that adds your own recordings to that archive and lets you read them from your pocket. That connection isn't built yet. When it is, it will be something you turn on, and it will send transcripts to your MemoryHive account. Your audio will stay with you.
Tell people you're recording
Recording laws vary. In Massachusetts and several other states, everyone in the conversation has to know. AuraPod is meant for open recording, and that part is your responsibility.
Who it's for
-
People who don't want their conversations in a cloud
You like what AI note-takers do but not where they send your audio. AuraPod keeps the recording, the transcript and the deleting in your hands.
-
MemoryHive and Bee users
You already want your conversation history searchable and exportable. AuraPod is being built to add your own recordings to that archive, on your terms.
-
Tinkerers and self-hosters
You already run your own services, and you'd rather run one more than pay another subscription. A local transcription server is a feature to you, not a chore.
Use cases
-
Keep notes from a meeting without a bot in the room
Tell the room, hold the record pad, and put it on the table. Afterward, sync over your own network and read the transcript.
-
Mark the moment that mattered
Double press the power button during a recording to start a new clip and drop a bookmark, so you aren't scrubbing through an hour later.
-
Catch an idea on a walk
It records to the card with no Wi-Fi and no phone nearby. The transcript can wait until you're home.
-
Check for trackers nearby
Open the radar in a car or a hotel room to see AirTag-style signals around you, then use Hunt to walk toward one. It listens only.
-
Hear it again in the original voice
Because the audio stays on the card, you can go back to what was actually said, with the transcript following along.
